Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani praised the role of Maysan sheikhs and dignitaries in sustaining security and stability and supporting state institutions, indicating that the tribe constitutes a social component that we are proud of and a safety valve for the country.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement that "Al-Sudani received a group of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from Maysan Governorate and representatives of its components, where he referred during the meeting to the honorable positions of the governorate in the history of Iraq and the sacrifices of its people. He also confirmed his knowledge of the reality of the governorate and what it has suffered for decades, whether before 2003 when it presented martyrs and displaced persons, or after it when it contributed to establishing the political process and gave sacrifices, especially in the war against the terrorist ISIS gangs."
Al-Sudani explained, according to the statement, that “Maysan has large natural and human resources that qualify it to be an important economic hub, and at the same time it is witnessing population growth that requires the sustainability of service projects in it,” stressing “working to determine the governorate’s priorities to support it, and direct communication with the governor to follow up on the projects included in the plan, which will be initiated successively, in addition to working to sustain oil projects and gas investment, the latest of which is the opening of the treatment plant, which will establish a series of projects that will be a good omen for the people of the governorate.”
He praised “the role of the sheikhs and dignitaries of Maysan in sustaining security and stability and supporting state institutions,” pointing out “the dangerous turns the region is going through, and the government’s preservation of balance in relations and the maintenance of security, just as it maintained its principled positions on the genocide taking place in Gaza.”
Al-Sudani said that “the clan is a social component that we are proud of, a safety valve for the country, and a supporter of the state since its establishment. It cannot be evaluated through the actions of some of its members,” expressing his “great confidence in the sheikhs and dignitaries who are taking responsibility in confronting various problems and taking the initiative to solve them before the state’s agencies take action.”
