The Minister of Migration and Displacement, Ms. Ivan Faeq Jabro, received the German Government Commissioner and Member of the German Parliament for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, Ms. Louise Amtsberg, and Her Excellency the German Ambassador, Ms. Christiane Hohmann, and the accompanying delegation, at the Ministry’s headquarters in central Baghdad. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them in all fields.
During the meeting, the Minister said: “The Iraqi government pays great attention to resolving all the problems facing Iraqis whose asylum applications have been rejected and the need to find appropriate mechanisms to encourage Iraqis to return voluntarily.”
The Minister also pointed out the importance of the role of the international community in supporting the Ministry’s efforts to return the displaced to their original areas, including Sinjar, stressing at the same time the need for the role of international organizations in supporting stability projects in Sinjar and other areas and in line with the government’s directions.
For her part, the German Government Commissioner and Member of the German Parliament for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, Ms. Louise Amtsberg, confirmed that her government seeks to provide the necessary support to the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Immigration in order to support the voluntary return from abroad and their integration into society, in addition to the return of the displaced to their original areas and support stability efforts, indicating that “the ministry has broad tasks and the German government appreciates the challenges facing the Minister in working to end the displacement file.”
