An informed source revealed, today, Friday (August 16, 2024), that a new date has been set for sending salaries to employees and security services in the Kurdistan Region.
The source said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "It was decided that the salaries of employees would be sent by the Federal Ministry of Finance yesterday, Thursday."
He added, "Given the completion of the auditing process, the existence of new appointments and contracts concluded by the regional government, and the salaries of employees in Kurdistan exceeding one trillion dinars, it was decided to postpone the sending until next Sunday," stressing that "until now there is no agreement on a specific date for sending salaries every month on a regular basis."
Former Kurdish MP Ghaleb Mohammed confirmed on Thursday (August 15, 2024) that the Kurdistan Regional Government does not have statistics on the number of security services in the region.
Mohammed told Baghdad Today, "Neither the federal government nor the Kurdistan Regional Government have numbers, statistics, or data on the numbers of security forces, including the Peshmerga, Asayish, Zerevani, intelligence, Parastin, and others."
He added, "The average number of aliens in these devices is very large, especially in the ranks of the Peshmerga forces, where the number reaches approximately 60-80 thousand aliens, and these are large numbers, and numbers that the controlling parties within the region benefit from."
He added, "According to the Federal Court's decision, every department can send its employees' payrolls to the Federal Ministry of Finance without referring to the regional government, and its employees' salaries will be deposited in government banks and their salaries will be paid continuously and on time without any delay."
