    Alsumaria News - Politics

Member of the House of Representatives, MP Ahmed Al-Sharmani, addressed the Presidency of the House of Representatives with a long letter that included a review of 5 main points that make the vote on the decision to increase the salaries of the representatives "invalid", while he confirmed that he will go to the Federal Supreme Court if the parliament does not retract the decision.

Documents reviewed by Sumaria News showed that Al-Sharmani addressed the parliament presidency, in which he called for the cancellation of the decision voted on by parliament to increase the salaries of representatives, because it is, first, in violation of the principles of equality among citizens in the constitution, and in violation of the decisions of the Federal Court that parliament does not have the authority to issue “legislative decisions” but only laws, in addition to being in violation of Article 64 of the House of Representatives Law of 2018, which stipulates that the parliament speaker, in agreement with his deputies, issues instructions specifying what is allocated to them, to the representatives, and to the council’s employees, but parliament does not currently have a parliament speaker.

This step also violates Article 37 of the internal regulations, which stipulates that representatives be notified of the agenda two days before the session is held, and that a topic not included on the agenda may not be included except with the approval and discussion of the majority of those present, and all of these mechanisms were not taken into account. As for the fifth reason, it is the necessity of adhering to the instructions of the authority, which stressed in its sermon on 10/25/2019 the need to uphold social justice in the distribution of wealth and the cancellation and amendment of major privileges for officials.
