     Baghdad / Sky Press:

The General Authority for Sport in Saudi Arabia has set a condition for the entry of women to sports fields, within the framework of the decision taken a few days ago.

The Islamic kingdom is moving towards loosening the rules on gender segregation, but it will sit in the so-called family section, both men and men, an area separate from the single male crowd, according to the independent newspaper The Independent.

The General Sport Authority called the decision "families will be allowed to enter the stadium next year, a term used by the authorities to refer to public places that accommodate women.

The three major sports venues in the capital Riyadh and the cities of Jeddah and Dammam will undergo renovations to accommodate families, the authority said.

The decision comes after the Saudi public welcomed the decision to allow women to drive for the first time next year, and many Saudis responded enthusiastically when women were allowed to enter Riyadh Stadium for National Day celebrations.

Two years ago, a Saudi woman was arrested while attending a football match at Al Jawhara Stadium in Jeddah. Police said to the local media at the time that security was spotted on the playground "deliberately disguised" in trousers, long-sleeved uniforms, a hat and sunglasses.

The Saudi authorities decided on Sunday (October 29th) to lift the ban on women entering football fields and allow them to attend sports events in three stadiums starting in 2018.
