Representatives and observers call for the use of pressure cards against Turkey to stop its violations in Iraqi territory

Baghdad / Hussein Hatem
Representatives and observers believe that the use of pressure papers against Turkey largely prevents violations and violations, while noting that condemnations and summoning the Turkish ambassador are insufficient measures.
Representatives revealed that the upcoming parliament sessions will witness a meeting to discuss the security situation in general, and Turkish violations in particular.
Turkey occupies tens of kilometers deep in Iraqi territory, and places dozens of barracks and military points inside the Kurdistan region as well.
A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Saran Al-Ajibi, said in an interview with (Al-Mada), that "we have repeatedly asked the government to put an end to the Turkish violations and violations," adding, "But we did not receive any response."
Al-Aajibi added, "The Turkish violations do not only represent a violation of Iraq's sovereignty, but also represent a danger to the people."
The number of Turkish forces present inside Iraqi territory is about 3,000, a number that can be increased with the possibility of launching extensive ground operations.
The MP from Al-Muthanna province believes that "the issue requires a meeting between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the central government and the formation of a delegation to go to Ankara to put an end to the conflict and chaos that is happening."
A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee is surprised by the government's failure to respond and clarify its position, adding that "Iraq can exert pressure on the Turkish side through the economic paper."
Al-Aajibi pointed out that "Iraqi diplomacy is supposed to play a role by submitting complaints to the Security Council, the United Nations and the League of Arab States," noting that "the economic paper can play a role in blocking Turkey's moves, and imposes on it the establishment of a clear agreement."
The member of the House of Representatives asks, "What is the benefit of the presence of the PKK for Iraq?"
It is estimated that there are 4,000 PKK militants in the regions of Kurdistan and Sinjar, which are the areas that worry Ankara the most. The anti-Turkish party has been running power in Sinjar for more than two years, while the Baghdad and Erbil governments concluded an agreement last year to clear the city of militants, including the PKK.
And last Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the killing of a senior military official in the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) during a Turkish intelligence operation in Iraq.
According to Erdogan, the slain military commander Salman Bozkir, known by his nom de guerre Dr. Hussein, was the PKK's general official in the Makhmour Kurdish refugee camp in northern Iraq.
"We will not allow the treacherous separatist organization to use Makhmour as an incubator for terrorism," the Turkish president said on Twitter.
On Saturday, a Turkish drone bombed the Makhmour camp, leaving three civilians dead.
Al-Aajibi indicates that "the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee will be part of a meeting that will be held during the upcoming sessions with the security services to discuss the security situation and external violations."
In turn, political affairs specialist Hamza Mustafa said in an interview with Al-Mada that "the current government and previous governments' stance towards Turkish violations does not rise to the level of responsibility."
Mustafa adds, "Diplomacy alone is not enough to end the violations," noting that "the government can only issue statements or summon the Turkish ambassador."
The political affairs specialist believes that "the national position should be unified, and the government should use pressure papers against Turkey and invest in the commercial aspect between Iraq and Turkey."
For his part, the representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Fadel Al-Fatlawi, called for an urgent meeting of the three presidencies to stop the Turkish side's persistence in Iraq, stressing that the government will have a position to summon the ambassador or impose economic sanctions.
Al-Fatlawi said at the beginning of this week to (Al-Mada) that "the Turkish recklessness and the silence of the Iraqi government made Ankara go too far on Iraq," pointing to "the importance of holding an urgent meeting by the three presidencies to discuss the crisis and find quick solutions to it."
Al-Fatlawi added, "The Iraqi government will have a firm position by summoning the Turkish ambassador to Baghdad, and imposing economic sanctions on Turkey," stressing at the same time "the necessity of the Iraqi parliament meeting as well and sending a message of the need to find good relations and peaceful coexistence with the Turkish side, but not at the expense of sovereignty.”
Yesterday, Friday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the killing of two PKK members as part of Operation Claw of Lightning, in northern Iraq.
On April 23, Turkey launched operations "claw of lightning" and "claw of lightning" against the PKK, in the areas of "Matina" and "Afsin-Basian", in northern Iraq.
