Al-Jawahiri told Al-Furat News that: "Iraq is a country that sells energy to the world, and the end of the role of oil in providing energy and replacing it with clean energy is a fantasy, as happened in the emergence of oil and its replacement instead of coal, coal remained the second provider of energy in the world."
He explained, "The need for clean energy is not in the middle of cities, but rather it is used in remote agricultural fields, and it has a role in the exploitation of solar energy and sustainable development in the country."
Al-Jawahiri stressed: "The need to encourage alternative energy at the expense of the interest, because Iraq only sells oil and others should not be encouraged, and that the West is supposed to encourage it because it is responsible for environmental pollution by 80 percent globally."
Last Wednesday, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, an agreement of principles was made between the Ministry of Electricity and the Chinese Power China Company, regarding the establishment of solar power plants with a capacity of 2000 megawatts, to be implemented with a capacity of 750 megawatts as a first stage, up to a capacity of 2000 megawatts.
As a government source confirmed, {to Furat News} the start of practical steps to adopt clean energy with contracts that will increase 7,000 megawatts for electrical production.
