    The head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Al-Waeli, announced, on Saturday, the size of the increase in the revenues of the ports achieved during the past nine months compared to the same period last year 2020.
    Al-Waeli said, in a statement reported by the official news agency “Conscious” and seen by “Al-Iqtisad News”, that “within the authority’s statistics for the period from 1/1/2021 to 9/30/2021, as well as the same period from 2020, the total customs, tax and deposit revenues will be high. By more than 61 billion dinars compared to last year.
    Al-Waeli stressed that "all the federal government outlets are under the control of the government authorities through the presence of all cadres of the border outlets through the strengthening of these 21 federal land, sea and air outlets, including air, land and sea, and there are military forces stationed at the gates and the vicinity of these outlets." .
    He added that "there are no fake outlets, but there are unofficial outlets and crossings in the Kurdistan region, and this page does not fold," noting that "the commission held meetings and prepared books and correspondence to activate this matter, but so far we have not been able to be present in the region's outlets."
    He explained that "one of the most important priorities of the Border Ports Control and Supervisory Authority is to protect the Iraqi product, whether it is industrial or agricultural, as there are inspections and monitoring of all containers imported into Iraq in order to activate this."
    And he indicated that "the border crossings have a high level of responsibility to protect the Iraqi national local product, but with the presence of unofficial ports and crossings in the region that are not federally controlled, materials that affect the Iraqi product enter from time to time."
    He pointed out that "this issue falls on the shoulders of the main controls, the leadership of joint operations and the supervisory authorities that must work in accordance with the law on this matter, as for the Border Ports Authority, its work is limited to its federal outlets," stressing that "the authority has a high level of responsibility in order to protect the product." The local, industrial, agricultural, and all that enters into the Iraqi local industry.
