Today, Monday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, with the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, stressed the importance of convening the tenth session of the Iraqi-Emirati joint committee in Baghdad, and the completion of memoranda of understanding and agreements between the two countries.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that Hussein met "Minister of State in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, at the headquarters of the UAE pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop them to serve the aspirations of the two peoples."
Hussein praised the great development that relations are witnessing in all fields, stressing the necessity of coordinating positions on regional and international issues, noting the importance of strengthening the economic aspect, trade cooperation and investment. Completion of memoranda of understanding and agreements between the two countries.
He called on Emirati companies and investors to actively contribute to the reconstruction movement and the Iraqi investment market, referring to the Iraqi government's measures that contributed to facilitating and creating investment opportunities, stressing the importance of increasing trade exchange between Iraq and the UAE.
For his part, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs stressed "the importance of brotherly relations between the two countries, and the keenness of the leadership in the UAE to activate mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, pointing to the importance of Iraq and its role in the region."
While stressing "his country's keenness to develop common interests in various fields that return and enhance mutual benefits between the two peoples and the two brotherly countries, he referred to the directives of the UAE leadership to open up fully with Iraq."
