    : Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Planning confirmed the growth in the capabilities of the private sector during the past year 2020, through its contribution to activating the economic cycle, increasing productivity with good quality, and providing more job opportunities.
    The ministry said in a statement received by “Al-Nour News” a copy of it, that “the economic indicators monitored by the Central Bureau of Statistics, during the past year, revealed that the percentage of new buildings completed by the private sector amounted to 82 percent of the total number of completed buildings, while the cost amounted to The college spent on the construction of completed and unfinished buildings (892) billion dinars.
    He added, "As for the number of workers in the buildings of the private sector, it reached (29,355) workers," noting that "the year 2020 witnessed the construction of more than (6) thousand housing houses at a cost of (691) billion dinars, and the capital, Baghdad, ranked first in building residential houses. At a rate of (28%), followed by the Najaf Governorate with a percentage of (12%), and Diyala Governorate came third with a percentage of (8%).
    Planning indicated, "The activity of the brick industry contributed to employing the highest percentage of workers, exceeding (56%), followed by the activity of grinding grains (17%), and other activities constituted (26%), pointing out that "the value of production It decreased by (8%) during the year 2020, despite the increase in the number of establishments to (6316) billion dinars, and this decrease was caused by the Corona pandemic, which caused the establishments to stop working for several months, and the value of private sector production reached (31%) of the total production total.”
    The ministry explained, "The most important economic activities in the private sector, at the forefront of which is the activity of the sugar industry, which represented the highest production value, which amounted to (46%) of the total private sector activities, followed by the activity of the brick industry by (16%), while the beverages industry The value of its production reached (15%), while the rest of the activities constituted (23%).
    She pointed out that "the number of large industrial establishments has increased to (719) facilities in 2020, compared to (670) facilities in 2019, and this increase, which exceeded (7%) comes as a result of the growth of the private sector in most governorates, indicating that these facilities were distributed By (634) establishments in the private sector, (18) establishments only in the government sector, and (60) establishments in the mixed sector.
    The statement continued, "The total number of employees decreased in 2020 by (6.5%), due to the new retirement law, which reduced the number of employees in the public and government sectors, as well as due to the Corona pandemic, which negatively affected the economy in general, and industrial activity on the in particular.”
    He noted that "the raw materials and other requirements were affected by the decrease in production, as the percentage of decrease was (9%), while the value added during the year 2020 decreased by (7%).”
