Today, Friday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee denied the existence of a tendency to approve the budget law every 3 years, while confirming that the House of Representatives pays attention to approving 3 important laws during the current period.
Committee member Ahmed Fawaz Al-Watifi said, "The draft federal budget law for the year 2023 is one of the most prominent laws that the House of Representatives seeks to approve because of its impact on the standard of living of citizens, in addition to a number of laws that passed during previous parliamentary sessions, including the retirement and civil service laws." ".
He added, "There is communication with the Ministry of Finance for the purpose of urging efforts to complete the proposal for the budget law within the House of Representatives, and then send it to the Council of Ministers, and then send it to the House of Representatives for approval."
A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee denied the existence of a project to approve the budget for (3) years within the House of Representatives, pointing out that the budget is a draft law for one year that is approved annually according to what is achieved from oil revenues, in addition to tax and customs revenues
. It varies from year to year, and this is an additional reason that confirms the inability to approve a budget for several years.”
Regarding the slums law, Al-Watifi stressed that “there are interventions in this law that deal with the basic designs of cities and the issuance of alternative housing plots to be occupied by the residents of slums. Providing an alternative is the responsibility of the government.”
