    The economic expert, Mahmoud Dagher, talked about the effects of the continued rise in the exchange rate of the dollar in the local markets, but he considered the crisis a real opportunity to protect the local product and develop the methods of merchants in obtaining imported goods.
    Dagher said at the second annual economic forum held at Cihan University - Duhok entitled "The Future of the Iraqi Economy in Light of the Current Crises" that the expected effects if the current crisis continues with the rise of the dollar will result in a rise in the prices of imported goods, an accelerated rise in inflation and a disruption of the sterilization mechanism in the Central Bank of Iraq. And an increasing issuance of the local currency to pay the government's obligations to the public and private sectors, and a scarcity in the supply of goods and services due to the suspension of remittances and a comprehensive economic crisis.
    It also touches on the other side of the crisis, considering it "a real opportunity to direct merchants to official channels to carry out their imports, activate the role of customs and protect the local product, and activate the role of taxes by providing incentives, support and exemptions for the next 3 years for everyone who declares his business and resorts to official financial channels in conducting his dealings." And purify the banking system from impurities and parasitic work and eliminate unofficial intermediaries and reduce the number of mediation and exchange companies.
