The President of the Republic receives an invitation to attend the Water Conference in New York

Yesterday, Wednesday, President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid received an official invitation to attend the Water Conference for Sustainable Development in New York, while calling for the development of educational curricula according to the requirements of the modern era.
A presidential statement stated, "The President of the Republic received the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Iraq (UNDP), Aoki Lootsma, who handed Rashid an official invitation from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, to attend the Water Conference for Sustainable Development that will be held in New York. During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between Iraq and the United Nations, as the discussions focused on a number of issues, most notably the existing fruitful partnership and ways to enhance it in the next stage.
The President of the Republic stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of activating cooperation in the field of water and transboundary water management, developing and improving agricultural and administrative reality and reducing water pollution."
For his part, the UN representative affirmed "the program's readiness to cooperate with the government and the concerned authorities and organizations to enhance their capabilities to face the increasing living pressures of this segment."
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic called for the development of educational curricula according to the requirements of the modern era.
Another statement stated, "The President of the Republic received a delegation that included the head of the National Committee to Combat Extremism, Ali Abdullah Al-Badiri, and the membership of representatives of the Judicial Council, the Office of the Prime Minister, the House of Representatives, the Ministries of Interior, Education, Immigration, Displaced, Youth and Sports, the Sunni and Shiite Endowments, and the President of Al-Mustansiriya University."
Rashid stressed, according to the statement, "the need to consolidate security and stability in the country," pointing to "the need for an effective media that reflects the true image of the country and plays its role in combating violence and extremist ideology."
He pointed out, "Educational institutions must assume responsibility for building the country and preventing terrorism in all its forms, and educational curricula must be developed according to the requirements of the modern era."
In turn, the members of the delegation presented an explanation to the President of the Republic regarding the functioning of the committee, its objectives and plans for the future in order to consolidate social stability, combat extremist ideology and spread the concepts of fraternity.
In addition, the President of the Republic affirmed that the world is looking with interest at the stability that Iraq is witnessing.
The statement stated, "Rashid received a delegation that included a number of members of the House of Representatives from the National Wisdom Movement, and discussed with them the political and security developments, and the need to create appropriate climates supportive of the government's efforts, in order to implement its service program and work towards its success, was emphasized."
