    Alsumaria News - Security

Iraq is entering a completely new and different phase, after the official announcement of the gradual end of the international coalition mission, not later than September of next year 2025. During this period, which was called in the joint statement the "transitional period", the map of the American presence will change, at least inside Iraq, in preparation for the year 2026, when it is hoped that the American and international presence will end completely.

The joint Iraqi-American declaration, despite its importance, came at a time when regional news covered the importance of this agreement and event, as it spells the end of the “international coalition” that was formed ten years ago, while readings vary regarding what this declaration will lead to regarding the shape of the future relationship between Iraq and America.

The announcement statement included several essential points that reveal the agreement, including Iraq's full commitment to protect international advisors during the transitional period. This expression clearly reveals that after the transitional period there will be no international advisors who need protection, which is a clear indication of the evacuation of the headquarters occupied by advisors or fighters of the international coalition.

The statement also included allowing the international coalition's mission in Syria to remain and continue from a headquarters inside Iraq until 2026. This means that the American presence in 2026 will be limited to one headquarters, perhaps in the Kurdistan Region, whose mission is to follow up on the work of the international coalition in Syria.

The agreement included many important angles, but in summary, what will happen is the "dismantling of the international coalition", and Iraq will be free to choose the nature and form of the bilateral relationship with each country of the international coalition individually, headed by the United States of America, as it is hoped that Iraq will conclude bilateral security partnerships with America, which will lead to at least a guarantee that Iraq will not be exposed by any country or supposed external aggression, as it will also allow the development of more defensive and combat capabilities for Iraq.

The announcement of the withdrawal agreement at this time is of great importance, as it came at the height of security tension in the region, with the American and Israeli forces on the one hand, and the resistance axis factions on the other, who intend to make American targets part of the war to support the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples, especially with the accusation of the American side of helping in the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. However, the announcement of entering the transitional phase to end the mission of the international coalition can be described as a "freezing of the conflict", which may spare Iraq a major security escalation and the occurrence of mutual revenge operations.

Observers believe that the ability of Al-Sudani's government to reach this agreement under these circumstances and the possibility of convincing the American side of it even in light of the terror and chaos lurking in the Middle East, is something worthy of mention and attention. Despite the escalation in the region, the American side was not given more room to use regional events as a pretext and postpone the announcement of the agreement, as happened weeks ago when the announcement was scheduled to take place before the beginning of September, but it was postponed due to the situation in the region.
