Today, Sunday, the Iraqi Prime Minister,  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in all cities of the country.
The official Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted Al-Sudani, during a symposium held on the sidelines of his participation in the 59th [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Security Conference, that "Iraq is no longer a security or political problem or part of the problems of combating terrorism. The cornerstone of a stable regional system based on coexistence, cooperation and economic partnerships that serve the region," he said.

Al-Sudani indicated that his government has 5 priorities, most notably combating poverty and corruption and economic reforms that take a large part of the effort to diversify sources of income and invest resources, adding: "I am working on reforms to the economy and radical reforms to the financial and banking system in line with the global system."
Al-Sudani pointed out that "Iraq considers climate change an existential threat to it, due to the burning of associated gas that previous governments did not invest in. We also put the problems of desertification and water scarcity as a priority for treatment, and we turn to renewable energy as a basic option."
And the Iraqi Prime Minister stated that "Iraq has triumphed over terrorism, and the security forces are highly qualified to maintain security," adding: "Our position is clear and frank. We do not need combat forces from the international coalition, but we need advice, training and security exchange, and we are working to determine the numbers of Advisers of the international coalition in Iraq in a way that preserves the sovereignty of our country, a vision that enjoys popular and political acceptance.

The Iraqi Prime Minister pointed out that "the government has carried out reforms in the security sector, which has not witnessed reform in years, and it is an important entitlement," noting that "the political forces are supportive of the process of reforming security institutions, which is one of the points of political agreement to form the government."
Al-Sudani explained that "the security situation in Syria represents a challenge to Iraq, including the presence of Al-Hawl camp and prisons that house a large number of terrorists," noting that "Al-Hawl camp houses 60,000 people, half of whom are Iraqis, and the government returns 150 Iraqi families every month, and they are admitted to Al-Jada'a camp for security and psychological rehabilitation, especially since the continued presence of families in Al-Hol camp poses a threat to the region, and the role of organizations in supporting families returning from Al-Hol camp is shy.
The Prime Minister stated that "Iraq withdrew a large number of citizens into Al-Hol camp (...) We hope that the countries of the world will do the same," noting that they "were able to control the process of disparity and political differences, and the government seeks to provide equality for all Iraqis without discrimination, and to grant minorities feeling reassured.”
Al-Sudani said, "We have come a long way in overcoming the obstacles between Baghdad and Erbil, and this year we will complete the enactment of the oil and gas law," stressing "the need to support the international community in recovering wanted terrorists, and stopping funding coming from Europe and others."
He pointed out that "the United States is a strategic partner for Iraq through the framework agreement, and is not a security partner only," pointing out that "Iran is a neighbor with whom we have historical relations at various levels, and Iraq's establishment of a balanced relationship with America and Iran is acceptable according to the basis of Iraq's national interests."
The spokesman pointed out that "corruption has shaken society's confidence in the political system in Iraq, and it threatens all programs and plans for development and reconstruction," stressing that "we have begun to reform the institutions responsible for combating corruption (...) We have recovered the money and wanted persons, and this is something that happens for the first time after 2003." And I asked the Director of Interpol for more cooperation in recovering the wanted persons and the money, and that part of the corruption money in Iraq goes to financing terrorism since 2003.

Closing the internal displacement file is a priority for the government

The Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed that "closing the displacement file is among the government's priorities, and there are many displaced people who have settled in the Kurdistan region, and projects have been allocated in the 2023 budget for the reconstruction of Sinjar and the Nineveh Plain."
He explained that "Iraq's role in the region is to be a point of convergence, a pioneering and natural role, and not an impersonating role, and Iraq can play a role in bringing the divergent views between the countries of the region closer together (...) There are committees working on economic projects that represent productive partnerships between Iraq Brothers in the region and the rest of the world, and Iraq is open to all countries in the field of economic partnerships,” noting that “the major international companies in all sectors are carrying out investment operations in Iraq, and there is an investment law that is the best in the region, and an emphasis on investing in gas that will supply the energy market in the world".

Al-Sudani revealed that the Iraqi government "conducts a monthly review of the investment environment and improves it through decisions and legislation in Iraq, and we worked to involve the private sector in the Economic Ministerial Council," noting that "routine is one of the negatives indicative of state institutions (...) We set up a special committee in the Prime Minister's Office to remove it."

Saudi-Iranian meetings close to Iraqi mediation

In another context, Al-Sudani indicated that "efforts are continuing to bring Saudi Arabia and Iran closer, and we will soon resume the meetings that stopped between the two parties, in addition to working to solve the problem of the trend for employment in the government sector exclusively," pointing out that "Parliament is in the process of voting on the unified retirement law that It would be an important structural reform."
He continued, "We put 400 million dollars in the Small Loans Fund to provide it in a soft manner to young people," pointing out that "Iraqi women were part of the epic steadfastness against ISIS, and the government is working to activate the work of women's empowerment circles."
The spokesman stressed that "Iraq is committed to international agreements on supporting women and the family, and women actively participate in Iraqi political life through the presence of 82 women in parliament."
