Today, Tuesday, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed the government's determination to build a strong economy.
And a statement from the ministry, received by Al-Mawtala, stated that: “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with a number of committee chairs in the British House of Commons, and they are the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Elisha Cairns, and the head of the Security and Defense Committee, Topas Ellwood, and a group of all parties for Iraq, on the sidelines of his visit to London, at the invitation of British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
During these meetings, the Foreign Minister touched on the "historical relations between the two countries and ways to improve and sustain them," referring to "the efforts of the Iraqi government and people in defeating terrorism and supporting the international coalition in the war against ISIS."
The Foreign Minister affirmed "the Iraqi government's determination to build a strong economy," calling on "the British side to help Iraq by providing technical support in various economic and service sectors."
The sessions dealt with discussions about the regional role that Iraq plays in stabilizing the region, bringing the views of regional powers closer together, and its keenness to be a meeting point in the region by bringing together regional powers through the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.
Hussein stressed that "the priorities of the Iraqi government are to provide services and diversify sources of income through contracts with major international companies and the optimal use of the country's wealth."
For their part, the heads of the committees affirmed "their readiness to provide all kinds of support in a way that contributes to Iraq's support and stability and the advancement of its economy to achieve prosperity for the Iraqi people."
