Today, Saturday, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Ahmed Vahidi, a security meeting between the two countries to discuss issues of joint security coordination and control of international borders.
Al-Shammari's media office said in a statement, "The Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, received today his Iranian counterpart, Ahmed Vahidi, at the Zurbatiya border crossing in Wasit Governorate."
He added, "The visit aims to hold a security meeting between the two countries to discuss issues of joint security coordination, control of international borders, and preparations to receive Iranian visitors during the Arbaeen visit of this year."
He pointed out that "it is hoped that the meeting will be attended by the governors of Basra and Wasit, the head of the Border Crossings Authority and a number of senior officials from both sides."
