    Economy News - Baghdad
Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Yasin Akram Serim held a consultative meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Omar Barzinji and his accompanying delegation in the Turkish capital Ankara.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement via the X platform stated that the two sides exchanged views on issues on the joint agenda in the field of bilateral relations, visas and residence.

The two sides also discussed issues of immigration, consular affairs, security, counterterrorism and judicial cooperation.

It is noteworthy that the summit held last April between Iraq and Turkey removed many thorny issues that have long plagued bilateral relations, ranging from water rights to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) file to other matters related to trade exchange and the position on current events in the region.

On April 22, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan traveled to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, in his first visit to Iraq in thirteen years.

The trip resulted in several important bilateral agreements in the fields of energy, water, security, trade and transportation, indicating a mutual desire to improve relations.
