The Federal Integrity Commission announced that it was able to thwart an attempt to illegally disburse more than 7 billion dinars from a government bank in Maysan Governorate.
A statement by the Commission stated that its team “took the initiative to move to the Real Estate Bank in Maysan, and after conducting investigations and verifying the accuracy of the information received, and obtaining the decision of the investigating judge, it was able to prevent the waste and stop the disbursement of an amount of 7 billion and 200 million dinars, after seizing the initials, loan transactions, and forged documents.”
He explained that “more than five billion dinars of those amounts were intended by the bank to be disbursed and distributed to citizens as loans after it promoted and completed the procedures for disbursing them to citizens as (exceptions),” indicating that “the bank was about to disburse the remaining amount after completing some procedures with it according to a (distorted and forged) letter attributed to the Ministry of Finance - General Administration of the Real Estate Bank containing 72 transactions and names specific to Maysan Governorate, each transaction worth 100 million dinars.”
The statement noted that “a formal seizure report was prepared for the operation that was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Articles (316/289) of the Penal Code, and it was presented, along with the seized documents, transactions, and (forged) book, to the competent investigating court judge, to complete the legal procedures and identify the negligent parties, in order to bring them to justice.”
