    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
MP Mudhar Maan confirmed, today, Wednesday (July 24, 2024), that approving the salary scale in Iraqi state institutions requires reviewing more than 30 laws.
Maan said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "We support the approval of the salary scale in Iraqi state institutions and consider it a strategic option to achieve the principle of justice and fairness. It has been delayed for many years to decide on it and the time has come to move forward with it despite the difficulties in multiple directions."
He added, "Approving the salary scale requires reviewing more than 30 laws, decisions and amendments to the law that were made in the previous stages because these entities receive legitimate allocations and they must be reviewed. Unifying the salary scale requires cancelling the allocations granted to some entities and not others. This matter requires efforts in order to draw a roadmap leading to its approval."
Maan pointed out that "the salary scale will need additional financial amounts in order to adapt the new situation in a way that contributes to correcting the course of salaries and unifying them in state institutions," noting that "the government has formed a high committee to proceed with preparing the salary scale and has accomplished what it had to do, and we expect the project to arrive soon in order to proceed with it."
Government employees are demanding fairness in salaries, which show large disparities in proportion and do not match the nature of the jobs and their occupants.
