MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani commented on Wednesday after being nominated for the presidency of parliament. Al-Mashhadani said, via the "X" platform: "I appreciate the position and efforts of the Azm and Sovereignty blocs in supporting our nomination for the position of parliament speaker to complete the component's entitlement." He added: "We will work for the interest of the Iraqi state first." The Sovereignty and Azm alliances announced their support for Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani's nomination for the presidency of the Council of Representatives.
