    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Member of Parliament, Soran Omar, announced today, Friday, August 16, 2024, the formation of a committee consisting of 15 members, whose mission is to audit the payrolls of employees in the Kurdistan Region.
Omar said in statements reported by Kurdish media outlets, followed by "Baghdad Today", that "the head of the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau formed a 15-member committee the day before yesterday, Wednesday, which will visit the Kurdistan Region soon."
He explained that "the committee formed is tasked with auditing the payrolls of Kurdistan employees as well as the region's financial revenues and expenditures."
MP Omar had previously stated that "the Financial Oversight Committee and the Federal Ministry of Finance have observations and reservations on the employees' salary lists and demanded that they be amended, which was rejected by the Ministry of Finance in the Kurdistan Regional Government."
Meanwhile, former Kurdish MP Ghaleb Mohammed told Baghdad Today yesterday, Thursday, that “neither the federal government nor the Kurdistan Regional Government possess numbers, statistics, or data regarding the numbers of security forces, including the Peshmerga, Asayish, Zerevani, intelligence, Parastan, and others.”
He added, "The average number of aliens in these devices is very large, especially in the ranks of the Peshmerga forces, where the number reaches approximately 60-80 thousand aliens, and these are large numbers, and numbers that the controlling parties within the region benefit from," he said.
Duplicate names and "alien" remain the biggest problem that hinders the disbursement of salaries for security forces in the region and even the civilian ones.
For more than two months, members of the Peshmerga forces and other security forces have been waiting for the issue of their payrolls to be resolved by the federal and Kurdistan governments.
