Sovereignty Party spokesman Khaled Al-Mufarji responded today, Saturday, to the statements of Nineveh Provincial Council member Abdullah Al-Nujaifi, regarding his meeting with the head of the Babylon Party, Ryan Al-Kaldani, and his talk about bargaining over the positions of the Arab component in the Kirkuk and Nineveh governments, stressing that the rights of the Arabs in Nineveh and Kirkuk cannot be compromised, and we are not among those who sell or give up their rights.
Al-Mufarji said in a statement, “We did not sit with Ryan Al-Kaldani to negotiate positions or electoral entitlements in Nineveh or Kirkuk.”
He added, “We were part of a political alliance representing the Arabs in the local government negotiations in Nineveh, and our dialogue with others was collective, not individual.”
Al-Mufarji continued, “The coalition’s relinquishment of the position of deputy governor (in Nineveh) at that time came in order to preserve Nineveh’s identity from outsiders,” noting that “our blame was on some Arabs who left from the Chaldeans later in order to stand with the Arabs of Kirkuk.”
The spokesman for the Sovereignty Party continued: “The bloc opposed the Arab dissidents in Kirkuk for joining Ryan Al-Kaldani because we cannot give up the rights of the Arab component in Nineveh and Kirkuk. We are not among those who sell the rights of our people in Nineveh and we will not give them up.”
Nineveh Provincial Council member Abdullah al-Nujaifi confirmed today, Saturday, that the deal that took place in Kirkuk to form its local government was made at the expense of Nineveh, indicating that the bargaining being carried out by the political forces is taking place at the expense of Nineveh Province and its rights.
