    Baghdad Today - Sulaymaniyah
The problem of employees’ salaries in the Kurdistan Region has returned to the forefront again as a result of the failure to find solutions to it so far. Every month there is a new crisis, represented by the delay in paying salaries for various reasons.
Baghdad Today correspondent said, "The scene of the strike in the governorate's departments has returned after it disappeared in the past months, in light of the agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the Erbil government's direct settlement of its employees' salaries in the banks."
He added, "But the salary crisis has returned again, as the Kurdish employee and retiree has not received his salary for 45 days, which brings the salary crisis back to square one."
He pointed out that "the Sulaymaniyah Traffic Department announced, today, Sunday (August 18, 2024), its strike due to the delay in paying salaries, while the Notary Public, Tax and Electricity Departments in the areas of Karmian, Halabja and Sayyid Sadiq announced their strike as well, for the same reason.
Our correspondent confirmed that, "Traffic personnel in Sulaymaniyah Governorate announced a strike due to the delay in disbursing their salaries."
Iraqi parliament member Soran Omar announced, at the end of last week, the formation of a 15-member committee tasked with auditing the payrolls of Kurdistan Region employees.
Omar said in statements reported by Kurdish media that "the head of the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau formed a 15-member committee on Wednesday, which will visit the Kurdistan Region soon."
He explained that "the committee formed is tasked with auditing the payrolls of Kurdistan employees as well as the region's financial revenues and expenditures."
