Shafaq News/ After announcing the final results of the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament, it is expected that Mohammed Suleiman, head of the "New Generation" list in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, will chair the first session of the council as the oldest member, according to the legal regulations governing the work of the parliament.
This procedure comes as a preliminary step to start the work of the new legislative session, as the legal period for appealing the results has been set until the third of this month, after which Parliament must convene within ten days, for the new members to take the constitutional oath.
According to the parliamentary system, the oldest member temporarily presides over the opening session, which is considered the first step in the legal and legislative procedures, as this session is organized for the elected representatives to officially assume their duties, and to launch the process of electing a permanent speaker of parliament and his two deputies, in a way that ensures the stability of legislative work in Kurdistan during the next stage.
