    Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Keywords discussed the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Poverty Reduction Strategy observations contained in the World Bank report on the second strategy to alleviate poverty in Iraq for the years 2017-2021 in the meeting which was attended by several members of the House of Representatives, experts and academics.


    A statement by the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers , "The meeting , which was also attended byrepresentatives of the relevant agencies and ministries of planning, finance, trade, labor and social affairs, health, environment, education, construction, housing and public works, agriculture , and representatives of the Kurdistan region, civil society organizations, the process of objective assessment of what has beenaccomplished and what has not been achieved and what should be added edited , or deleted in the new strategy. " 

    He stressed Keywords during the meeting , " the importance of coordinating activities to prevent overlap between the projects guaranteed by the relevant authorities in the new strategy," pointing to " the need to take into account the latest developments in the country, especially the situation of displaced persons who haveturned many of those who were above the poverty line to below the poverty line, according for our perspective because of losing their jobs or their businesses or homes or property as a result of terrorist Daesh, which wasaccompanied by a large collapse in oil prices , which is the backbone of the resources of the state. " 

    The meeting concluded to hold a workshop for stakeholders to prioritize projects and activities finalized to return to the World Bank. 

    It is noteworthy that the government is seeking through this strategy, to reduce poverty, through the adoption of an economic policy that is consistent with the financial situation , which is currently experienced by Iraq, and the output of the drop in oil prices globally. 

    Also it provides for the establishment of a special fund to finance poverty projects, through financial allocations in the federal budget or donations that may be obtained by the government from donors.
