The Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad reported on Thursday that a specialized technical committee formed by the Jordanian government recently proposed sites submitted by the Iraqi authorities to the Kingdom for the establishment of the joint border industrial zone project between the two countries.
The newspaper said in a news item, "Economy News", that "the committee includes in its membership representatives of various institutions, the most important ministries of industry and works and the Investment Authority in addition to the Jordanian Industrial Cities Company."
Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yabar al-Qudah and Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Mohammed Shaia al-Sudani agreed during a series of meetings held in Amman in September to establish a joint industrial city on the border between the two countries.
Taribil crossing is the only outlet linking the flow of commercial goods between Jordan and Iraq and closed in 2015 due to the security situation in that period. The crossing was reopened before the movement of goods and passengers before the end of last month.
