{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Education confirmed today, Saturday, that it does not have accurate statistics on literacy rates in the country, indicating that what is published are just questionnaires.
The director of media for the literacy directorate in the ministry, Muayyad Al-Obaidi, told {Euphrates News}, "There are no accurate statistics of the illiteracy rate in Iraq, and all that is published are questionnaires by organizations specialized in this regard."
He pointed out that "there is no accurate statistics or age groups and ratios among which illiteracy is widespread."
He explained that "the statistics depend on the general census of the population, due to the diversity of the age groups covered by these statistics, and all that is presented are scattered percentages, and the Ministry of Education's talk about this file is as achievements."
