    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Planning has set 3 goals for the ring road project surrounding the capital, Baghdad, while it expected it to be included in the 2023 budget
. Ministry spokesman Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi said that “the length of the planned ring road project will be 96 kilometers from all its sides, and the designs and plans of the project have been included in The 2021 budget, and it is hoped that it will be included as a project in the 2023 budget.”
He added, "The project is one of the most important projects in the capital, Baghdad, and will achieve 3 goals, namely reducing traffic in the capital, supporting the development process, as well as providing job opportunities by passing through many areas of the capital."
Earlier, the Prime Minister's Adviser for Construction and Services, Sabah Mistaat, confirmed that the ring road would reduce the momentum from Baghdad by 40%, while referring to the formation of a committee headed by an advisor from the Prime Minister's Office to follow up on the implementation of the project.
Mushtat said, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the office of the Prime Minister has begun to restore life to the ring road project since the middle of 2020, when a team of experts was formed on the road," noting that "this project was scheduled to be implemented in 1979." However, the political conditions in the country prevented this from happening.
He explained that "the ring road aims to reduce the traffic momentum from the city of Baghdad at a rate of no less than 40 percent, as it includes preventing the entry of trucks and vehicles coming from the south to the north and from the east to the west and vice versa," noting that "this will contribute to reducing the momentum on the one hand and maintaining Roads on the other hand.
He added, "The implementation of the road will be accompanied by urban development in the areas surrounding it," pointing out that "a study is being prepared to increase the value of the lands located around this street by 300 percent."
He pointed out that "the project was proposed in the year 1979, and until 2020, the features of the city of Baghdad have changed and expanded, and there are other uses, such as some areas with oil fields, or other services," noting that "the first operation carried out by the Prime Minister's Office, an attempt to solve Some of the conflicts that occurred in the project through meeting and communicating with the relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Oil, as well as the Ministry of Culture, especially since there are some archaeological monuments that this road passes through, in addition to water and sewage services.”
