Oil prices settled higher, but fell on a weekly basis after health authorities in China eased some of the country's strict COVID-19 restrictions, boosting hopes of an improvement in economic activity and demand in the world's largest crude importer.

During Friday's session, Brent crude futures rose 2.32 dollars to settle at 95.99 dollars a barrel, continuing an increase of 1.1 percent in the previous session, but it fell 2.6 percent during the week.

A weak US dollar boosts demand for oil as it makes it cheaper for buyers holding other currencies.

Prices also increased on Friday after a lower-than-expected rise in US inflation boosted hopes that the Federal Reserve would cut the size of upcoming interest rate increases.
