The International Initiative to Combat Organized Crime revealed that Iraq has lost more than 7 million liters of fuel per day as a result of smuggling operations that take advantage of cheap and subsidized fuel prices inside Iraq compared to neighboring countries.[/rtl]
[rtl]The organization said in an official report, that "oil smuggling operations, although they are not new, have "escalated sharply" in recent years due to the Russian-Ukrainian war and high profit rates, and the level of security measures has decreased inside the Kurdistan region, which is described as "the main crossing." to smuggle oil out of Iraq.[/rtl]
[rtl]The organization described the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq as operating in a "gray area" with its oil trade, especially after the Iraqi judiciary decided to prevent it from exporting the country's imports without returning to the central government in Baghdad, stressing that "the actions of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the continued smuggling of Iraqi oil through it "led to the weakening of Iraq's sovereignty and undermining the efforts of public services," according to its description.[/rtl]
[rtl]It is noteworthy that Iraq has lost about 130 billion US dollars since 2003 until today as a result of oil smuggling operations, according to what was revealed by the Ministry of Oil, in the words of the network, accusing the Kurdistan Regional Government of being one. One of the most important gates for smuggling Iraqi oil abroad.[/rtl]
