Fidan asks Erbil and Baghdad to cooperate to solve the "problem" of the PKK's presence in Iraq

Shafaq News/ Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed, on Thursday, his country's concern about the continued presence of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Iraqi soil.
This came in a press conference held with the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, after their meeting in the city of Erbil.
Fidan said during the conference, "We discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region, which included economic and political issues, terrorism, water and projects between Turkey and Iraq."
He pointed out that during his meetings with government officials and heads of some political parties in Baghdad, he stressed the preservation of regional security.
The Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed that he met with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and this meeting was very important.
He added, "We talked with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region about many issues, including the fight against terrorism, the economic and commercial aspects, and investment issues."
Fidan continued by saying that Erbil was and still is an important place for stability, especially during the periods that Iraq was going through difficult and difficult periods, and we hope that this situation will continue as it is.
He stressed the fight against terrorism, saying: Turkey also has many issues that it is fighting for and we are here to protect the land of Iraq and its unity, stressing that the issue of the presence of the Kurdistan Workers Party in the land of Iraq worries us, we call for help and support to solve this problem.
