Today, Monday (August 28, 2023), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the release of three Iraqis who were kidnapped days ago in Iran, despite their actual release two days earlier.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Ahwaz, has followed up in the past days, in coordination with the relevant authorities in Iran, the issue of the three kidnapped Iraqis," the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said in a brief statement received by "Baghdad Today".
He added, "Efforts and follow-ups culminated in their release and handing them over to their families, who are (Muhammad Bashar Muhammad, Musa Kazem Musa, Muntazer Sattar Kazem)."

Today's announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes after the abductees' families denied the previous statement by the ministry, in which it announced and through its official spokesperson, that "some social networking sites published videos of a number of kidnapped Iraqis in Iran near the Iranian-Turkish border, and they were released in exchange for sums of money by the kidnappers." ".
The spokesman, Al-Sahhaf, said at the time, "The video clips belong to a case of kidnapping since July 2023," which is contrary to what he said today regarding the release of the abductees.
On August 23, video clips and pictures of kidnapped Iraqis were circulated on social media, who were subjected to torture and abuse at the hands of Iranians after they were kidnapped, during their visit to Iran for the purpose of tourism. The number of kidnapped by more than 10 people.
