    Statistics conducted by the German company statista, which specializes in market and consumer data in the world, and published recently, monitored unemployment rates in Iraq during the past twenty years, pointing to a decrease of 3.71% in the past year 2022 to reach 15.55%.
    And a table for the company, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, showed that the unemployment rate in Iraq decreased by 0.6 points and by 3.71 percent in 2022 compared to the year before 2021, noting that the year 2021 witnessed the highest unemployment rate for Iraq during the past twenty years, which amounted to 16.23 percent. .
    The unemployment rate refers to the proportion of the economically active population who are currently unemployed but are looking for work. The unemployment rate does not include economically inactive people such as the long-term unemployed, children or retirees.
    She added that the unemployment rate in 2003 reached 8.85% and in 2004 it reached 8.72%, then it continued to decline during the subsequent years to record in 2012 the lowest unemployment rate for 20 years at a rate of 7.96%, then it began to rise again to record in 2018 a rate of 13.02% and in 2018 2020 rate of 15.11%.
