    Economy News - Baghdad
The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Monday, the issuance of a summons order against five employees of the General Tax Authority/Wasit Branch.
A statement by the Authority, reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", stated that "the accused employees who work as estimators in the General Tax Authority branch in the governorate, granted letters of clearance to a number of taxpayers; despite their debts to the General Company for Private Transport in the governorate for rental allowances for shops affiliated with the company."

The statement added that "the Wasit Investigation Office team, after conducting investigation and auditing, revealed that the General Company for Private Transport had previously requested the General Tax Authority in an official letter not to grant clearance to auditors; except after reviewing the company," noting that "the estimators in the estimation units did not put a note in the files of the indebted taxpayers; which caused a waste of public money."

He added that "after seizing the original documents and presenting them to the External Audit Division in the Wasit Investigation Office to clarify the financial and administrative violations, it was found that an amount of (69,727,000) sixty-nine million dinars had been wasted," noting that "the summons order against the five accused was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code."
