Al-Sudani opens 4 factories for military production

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed the importance of military manufacturing as one of the foundations of national sovereignty requirements, while he issued directives to the Ministries of Defense and Interior to adopt the products of the Military Industrialization Authority to meet their needs.
A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office stated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated, yesterday, Saturday, a number of military production factories and rehabilitation laboratories in the General Military Industries Company, within the industrial complex affiliated with the Military Industrialization Authority south of Baghdad. He also reviewed the progress of work and production in other military factories."
He added that "the Prime Minister also inaugurated the light ammunition production plant, the quality testing laboratories factory and the firing ranges for the light ammunition production line, the mortar shell factory, and workshops for hot forging and aluminum injection in the factory, in addition to the inauguration of the iron alloys and colored metals factory in the General Military Industries Company," indicating that "Al-Sudani's visit to the complex witnessed the inauguration of the first phase of the distribution and power transformer rehabilitation and maintenance laboratory, as it was agreed to contract with the Ministry of Electricity according to the annual production capacity of the laboratory."
He explained that "the Prime Minister launched the executive work on the capsule factory for light ammunition projects, and the factory for the production of military and civilian boats. He also reviewed the executive work on the medium-range ammunition and oil production project, and followed up on the work on the electric car production factory at the General Military Industries Company, implemented in partnership with the private sector, and scheduled to open at the end of this year. He also reviewed the progress of implementation in the light equipment factory (NATO)." The Prime Minister blessed "the efforts of the Military Industrialization Authority and its working staff," stressing that "since the approval of the Military Industrialization Authority Law (25 of 2019), the Authority has witnessed the launch of a group of factories and the laying of the foundation stone for other factories, as we stand before approximately 12 factories, some of which will be completed by the end of this year, as part of the government's development program." Al-Sudani stressed that "the launch of military manufacturing at the level of various equipment, or civilian activities, especially the needs of the Ministry of Electricity, is not measured only by the provision of hard currency, but rather by what military manufacturing means, as it is one of the foundations of the requirements of Iraqi sovereignty," directing "the security ministries to adopt the products of the Military Industrialization Authority to meet their needs."
He continued, "We found a high level of ambition, potential, vision and readiness among the workers in the Military Industries Company," indicating, "Today we are establishing a military industry that ensures sovereignty in securing the requirements of our security services." He stressed, "The presence of terrorist gangs has ended, but the challenges remain present, whether in dormant cells within extremist thought, or security challenges on the borders."

Al-Sudani stated, "We have a clear law and continuous support for the military industry, through Cabinet decisions that approve financial allocations or ensure the provision of raw materials." In turn, the head of the Military Industrialization Authority, Mustafa Aati, said: "There are 12 factories in the authority, 4 of which were opened by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and 8 others will enter service before the end of this year 2024." He stressed that "these projects and factories will constitute a launch towards establishing a national military industry," noting that "the efforts and planning of the Prime Minister have a major role in completing projects and supporting the military industry."
