Lebanese President Michel Aoun stressed the role of the army and security forces in combating terrorism on the border and chasing terrorist cells, adding that the pre-emptive operations have achieved positive results in maintaining the stability of the country.
Aoun said during his meeting with Belgian Minister of State André Falahou at the Baabda Palace on Wednesday that Lebanon, which has provided and continues to receive various kinds of care for the Syrian displaced, despite the negative repercussions of the Syrian displacement, supports international efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis. And secure a dignified and safe return to their country and land.
Aoun expressed his thanks and appreciation for the role played by Belgium in supporting Lebanon in regional and international forums and its participation in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and helping Lebanon to implement UN Resolution 1701.
The Lebanese President also welcomed the conference, to be held this autumn in Belgium, dedicated to the protection of minorities in the East
