    Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Thursday stressed the need for Iraq to overcome the stumbling block in the energy field. 
    "The Prime Minister received today, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Erdkanian and his delegation," a statement from Abdul Mahdi's office said. 
    "The depth and diversity of relations between the two countries and the Iraqi and Iranian peoples, and thanks to the Islamic Republic for its efforts to develop relations between the two countries and to cooperate in meeting the needs of Iraq's electricity," Abdul Mahdi said. 
    He pointed out that "the need to prepare for cooperation and overcome the obstacles to complete the practical and procedural procedures and find the necessary solutions and the success of the talks between officials and experts involved in this file between the two neighboring countries."
    "The victory in the field of providing electricity is a victory for reconstruction and a sign of progress for nations. Iraq must overcome the stalemate in the field of energy and to become an importing country, but a producer of energy," he said.
