Shafaq News/ The Iraqi parliament intends to review about six thousand employees with special degrees distributed among various state institutions, as it increases the financial consequences.
And the job of "special grades" in Iraq ranges from deputy minister to the rank of general manager or those of their rank, and their numbers in last year's budget exceeded the barrier of 5540 employees.
The agency learned, from a parliamentary source, that "the large numbers formed by those with special degrees, drain a lot of money from the country's public financial allocations (the budget)."
The source added, "To address this, the concerned (financial and legal) committees in Parliament are trying to find some proposals for solutions, including restructuring those grades in a way that is necessary for the success of government work and according to the rule of academic specialization, away from favoritism or political and partisan courtesy."
And he continued, "Work is also being done to determine a legal age to refer them to retirement, similar to the employee discipline law, which sets the minimum age of 60 years to remain in the job, while this does not apply to those with special degrees."
The source pointed out that "these endeavors may face many difficulties, including the rejection of these proposals or recommendations, given that most of the owners of these degrees are linked to a partisan or political reference, which makes it difficult to replace or change their share of those positions."
The source concluded his speech by saying: "It may be redistributed in a manner that achieves a balance between all components of the political process, and reduces the consumption of the budget as salaries for those with those degrees, in addition to other financial allocations."
