The General Traffic Directorate announced, on Saturday, its intention to open sites for vehicle registration within the border crossings, with the aim of completing the process directly within the crossing.
Brigadier General Ziyad Muhareb Al-Qaisi, Director of Information of the Directorate affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, said, "The aforementioned sites will give vehicles entering the country permanent registration plates instead of previously entering the country, and then go to the directorate's sites within Baghdad and the provinces to enter the registration procedures and install special plates for them." The procedure comes within the Directorate's plan to provide the best services to citizens.
Al-Qaisi added, "The Directorate is following up on issuing a decision regarding vehicle registration controls, which was previously proposed by the Traffic Directorate to amend Resolution No. 215 of 2009, by not registering the imported vehicle in the name of the importer unless he presents a deposit certificate for a vehicle registered in the traffic departments (vehicle registration number)." Revealing that "the importer is allowed to upgrade the vehicle's registration without the brand and type, provided that the Traffic Directorate allocates the new number."
