A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mueen Al-Kazemi, expected to start the second reading of the budget immediately after Eid Al-Fitr, pointing out that there will be amendments to it.

Al-Kazemi said in a statement, "The draft budget law for the year 2023 is estimated at 199 trillion, with a fiscal deficit of 64 trillion," noting that "Iraq's revenues amount to 134 trillion, 117 of which are from oil revenues and 17 trillion from non-oil resources."

Al-Kazemi expected that the second reading of the budget bill would take place immediately after Eid Al-Fitr, "explaining that" the meeting of the Finance Committee with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani next Saturday will discuss dealing with the financial deficit in the budget, adding support to the governorates, reducing external borrowing, and preparing a budget for three years. ".

He added, "The Finance Committee's observations on the draft budget law are to address the deficit by reducing the operating budget with the possibility of making adjustments to the investment budget, especially in the file of provincial allocations, given that the number allocated for the development of regions is few, so it is possible to make a transfer of funds from some ministries to the provinces."

He pointed out that there is a possibility of reducing the volume of external borrowing, which reached nearly 9 trillion in the budget, to avoid placing a large financial burden on the Iraqi people and the budget.

And he continued, "The Finance Committee has completed reading and discussing 67 articles of the budget law," pointing out that "the members of the committee are working on confirming the observation of preparing the report of the Finance Committee and reading it under the dome of Parliament."
