    An informed source revealed today, Thursday, the opening of an investigation into the second largest theft in the history of Iraq, concerning the right of Al-Ahdab, indicating that the case includes exempting contractors from taxes.

    The source told Sumaria News, "The Integrity Commission is investigating the second largest theft in the history of Iraq, estimated at millions of dollars, in the Al-Ahdab oil field," indicating that "contractors were exempted from taxes in the field belonging to the Central Oil Company."



    The source added, "The Integrity Court Judge, Diaa Jaafar, decided to detain the Assistant Director General for Technical Affairs and the former Director of the Licensing Control Department."
     
    According to the documents issued by the Central Oil Company and addressed to the Ministry of Oil, it stated: We would like to inform you of a violation regarding the taxes of net price contracts, as it was found that the operator, "Chinese Oasis Company", followed the net price method for some subcontracts without including the tax amounts, and the contract was signed with the subcontractor on this basis, noting that the amount deducted from the contractor's account is ($48,953,613.57) forty-eight million nine hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred and thirteen dollars and fifty-seven cents deducted from the list of dues for the second quarter of 2020 pursuant to the Petroleum Contracts and Licensing Department's letter No. 1529 dated 8/18/2020 and attached to our company's letter No. 5762 dated 8/10/2020, noting that the total remaining amounts and the deduction from the total disputed amounts amounted to ($139,191,766.79) one hundred thirty-nine million one hundred and ninety-one thousand seven hundred and sixty-six dollars Seventy-nine cents and that these violations occurred as a result of the above operator exploiting the Ministry’s books to exempt some projects and generalize the procedure to the rest of the projects, especially with Chinese companies as subcontractors.
