    Transport: The 2024 plan includes the maintenance of 15 aircraft of different models to enhance the airline fleet

    The Ministry of Transport announced its plan to enhance the Iraqi Airways fleet, and while it explained that the 2024 plan includes the maintenance of 15 aircraft of different models, it confirmed that the number of aircraft operating in the national carrier's fleet is 26 aircraft.
    The director of the ministry's media office, Maitham Al-Safi, said in an interview: The fifth aircraft, model B737-800 / YI-ASU, has been returned, bringing the number of aircraft maintained by the Iraqi Airways Company to 11 aircraft so far, and the number of aircraft operating in the Iraqi national carrier's fleet is 26 aircraft. Indicating: The file of returning idle aircraft and putting them into service comes in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and under the direct supervision of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi.
    He added: The ministry is keen to adhere to the specified timetables for returning the remaining aircraft to service. He stressed that the Iraqi team specialized in the aircraft den, and in a record time of completion, was able to replace two CFM 56-7b engines for the Boeing B737-800 / YI-ASU aircraft, which is the 11th aircraft returned to service, bringing the number of returned aircraft of this type to (4) aircraft, preceded by aircraft of the types YI-ASI, YI-ASQ, YI-ASS, YI-ASU.
    He pointed out that the company is proceeding with returning all aircraft out of service, according to the plan prepared by the technical department for this year. He stressed that by the end of this year 2024, there will be 15 aircraft returned to service, and the rest of the aircraft will be scheduled according to a new plan for the year 2025.
    He continued: Work is currently underway to return (4) other aircraft to service, after completing the required periodic maintenance and maintenance work on them, so that the total number scheduled to enter service reaches (15) aircraft within a maximum period of the end of this year. Noting that the 11 aircraft are of different models, most notably Boeing 737/800, Airbus 320 and 220, in addition to CRJ 900 and Boeing 777.
    He confirmed: The number of modern aircraft received is 5 Airbus and 6 Boeing 737 out of 16 aircraft, in addition to two Dreamliner aircraft out of 10 aircraft. Indicating: The remaining contracted aircraft will be received successively, so that the total number of aircraft added to the Iraqi Airways fleet until 2027 will be 31 aircraft.
    Earlier, Iraqi Airways announced an 89 percent increase in realized and growing revenues, while confirming that direct and continuous government support from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani contributed to changing the reality of the airlines and bringing about a qualitative shift.
    The company’s general manager, Manaf Abdul-Moneim, said in a press statement: “The direct and continuous support from the government represented by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and the diligent follow-up and continuous directives from the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis, have brought about a qualitative shift and contributed to changing the reality of Iraqi Airways between last year and the current year.”
    Abdul-Moneim added that “the revenues achieved and growing in Iraqi Airways have witnessed an unprecedented increase estimated at 89%.” He indicated that “the airline’s management is keen to rebuild Iraqi Airways in the right way that allows it to compete with other companies.”[/size]
