Anti-corruption expert Saeed Yassin Musa commented today, Saturday (August 10, 2024), on the Federal Integrity Commission’s failure to open the file of the inflation of the funds of officials, representatives, and their families.
Musa told Baghdad Today, "Without all the previous governments' periods, the Federal Integrity Commission and its Prevention Department are directly busy following up on the inflation of funds and following up on the disclosure of the financial assets of senior officials and the positions most vulnerable to corruption."
He explained that "for the first time, the Prevention Department has begun adopting an integrated database to review the inflation of funds after 2003 and search for sources of funds in accordance with the law, especially after amending the Authority's law in 2019 according to Articles 16, 17, and 18, which stipulated the inclusion of family members and anyone the Authority deems to be non-relatives."
He added, "The policy of receiving reports and information directly from citizens has been adopted, and there is follow-up and oversight of files of the inflation of the funds of government officials, representatives and others, as well as follow-up of their families, but not all of these activities are for publication and media, due to the secrecy of some movements and investigations."
At the beginning of this year, the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, announced the start of opening the file of money inflation and activating the “Where did you get this from” campaign in the governorates through the Commission’s investigation directorates and offices.
