Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, MP Mustafa Al-Karaawi, confirmed today, Sunday, that the decision to purchase weapons from the military industry comes in support of the national industry, noting that it provides hard currency within the country.

Al-Karawi said in an interview with Sumarya News, "Contracts for importing military products are subject to Article 12 of the Military Industrialization Authority Law, which stipulates that imports are prohibited unless the Authority is unable to provide a specific product inside Iraq."

Al-Karawi added, "Many military and war products are available at the Authority," considering that "the decision to ban imports is an application of the law, and must be adhered to by the security authorities in support of the government sector and national industry and in providing hard currency within the country."
