    Baghdad Today - Kirkuk
Today, Sunday (August 25, 2024), the official of the Arab Opinion Authority in Kirkuk, Nazim Al-Shammari, called on the Arab members of the Kirkuk Council to correct the mistakes produced by the Rashid Hotel session and end the Arab division.
Al-Shammari said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The Arab parties are required today to stop the division of the Arab component and its repercussions on the future of the component and to correct the mistakes produced by the Rashid Hotel session."
He added, "While we hold them historically responsible for what happened and condemn the statements issued by one of the Arab members, who described some Arab tribes as minorities," indicating that "this matter is unacceptable, as are the reactions that undermine the unity of the Arab component."
Al-Shammari explained that "this division harms us as a component, and all clans are respected and it is not permissible to use such phrases, as all clans are honorable and respected."
On the tenth of August, the governor of Kirkuk and the head of its provincial council were elected in Baghdad without the participation of members of the Democratic Party bloc and a number of Arab representatives. Ribwar Taha was appointed governor and Mohammed Hafez was appointed head of the provincial council.
Before the meeting held in the capital Baghdad, three blocs, namely the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the Arab Alliance, and the Turkmen Front, announced their boycott of the meeting, declaring that the provincial council session that led to the selection of the head of the local government and the head of the Kirkuk provincial council was illegal, stressing that they were not invited to attend the session.
