    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Independent MP Amir Al-Maamouri commented on Friday (November 1, 2024) on the possibility of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani breaking the political restrictions imposed on him in order to carry out a ministerial amendment in his government.
Al-Maamouri said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "There is no doubt that there are political pressures on the Prime Minister to dissuade him from making any ministerial amendment, since these ministers are affiliated with the influential blocs and parties that make up the current government, and there are restrictions that Al-Sudani must overcome, as there are ministers who really need to be changed due to the clear failure in performance and implementation of the ministerial program."
He explained that "the possibility of Al-Sudani breaking these restrictions will be revealed in the coming few days, and the ministerial reshuffle will include ministers from different blocs and components, so that Al-Sudani is not accused of targeting any party, and we do not believe that Al-Sudani wants to exploit this matter for electoral purposes, especially since he knows very well that such a step will provoke the anger of the blocs and parties."
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani revealed on Tuesday (October 29, 2024) an expected ministerial reshuffle .
Al-Sudani said during the cabinet session, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the formation of the government: “We will make a ministerial amendment according to performance and work indicators, and based on our government program , ” stressing that “it is not a political or personal decision .”
He pointed out that "the amendment is a desire to achieve more effective performance to meet the requirements of the stage and the aspirations of citizens ."
It is noteworthy that in April 2023, the first official announcement was made by Al-Sudani regarding his intention to proceed with the ministerial amendment in his government, and he said that it would be "at the appropriate time ."
Al-Sudani added at the time: “We deal with ministers in a clear and frank manner regarding the evaluation of their professional work, and the constitution gives the Prime Minister the authority to dismiss the negligent minister .”
