Here, today, Thursday (October 31, 2024), the head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, greeted Mahmoud al-Mashhadani on the occasion of his election as Speaker of Parliament, expressing his hopes for improving parliamentary performance.
Al-Hakim said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "We congratulate Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani on gaining the confidence of the Parliament and choosing him as the head of the legislative authority, ending the vacancy of this important and vital position."
He expressed his hope that "this step will be the starting point for a more advanced parliamentary legislative and oversight performance that is concerned with approving laws that have direct contact with citizens' lives, in addition to improving the reality of oversight performance to diagnose and address negatives, enhance positives, combat corruption, and support the government's efforts in implementing its service approach."
