Total investment of close to two billion dollars in the petrochemical sector in Iran

An Iranian official said on Tuesday that Tehran's Total reached with a preliminary agreement to build three factories for the production of petrochemicals in a deal that could see investment of French oil giant up to two billion dollars in Iran in the event of completion.
The relocation of the Iranian Ministry of Oil Information on the Internet on Tuesday, managing director of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company as saying, "In recent talks, the two sides reached an agreement to build petrochemical plants total capacity of 2.2 million tons of petrochemicals and polymers products annually.
"We expect Total to invest between 1.5 billion and two billion dollars in the petrochemical sector if we reach a final agreement."
A spokesman for the French company "Total and the National Iranian Petrochemical Company is conducting an in-depth study of the projects rely on petrochemical ethane, but said the figures should be revised (especially capital spending)."
The conclusion of a preliminary agreement on petrochemical plants comes after it signed an agreement with Total Tehran on Monday to develop phase 11 of Iran's South Pars field, becoming the first major Western company to invest in the energy sector there since the lifting of sanctions imposed on Tehran.
Bojan said Patrick Chief Executive Officer of Total, following the signing of the agreement that it will open the door for more business in Iran.
Southern Pars field is part of the largest gas field in the world and Iran shared with Qatar, which it calls the North Field name and contributed to its development in the Doha become the largest producer of liquefied natural gas in the world.
Last month, Bojan told Reuters that the draft petrochemical plants negotiations have not reached an advanced stage such as South Pars, Total will need because of bank loans to finance the project while can finance the development of the South Pars self.
Was Amir Hossein Zamani Nia Iranian deputy oil minister said on Monday that Iran and Total held "positive talks" for cooperation in the petrochemical sector, but added that the agreement is not final. / D ended 25
