Communications Minister: New cuts in internet wages and an increase in capacities

The Ministry of Communications confirmed, on Sunday, that it is preparing an integrated study to reduce the wages of international Internet capacities, which will be announced soon.
Minister of Communications Naeem Al-Rubaie said in a statement reported by the official news agency "conscious" and reviewed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the ministry is preparing an integrated study that will be presented within the next two days to the Supreme Committee for Health and Safety to combat the Corona virus, in order to announce new wage cuts International internet capacities.
He added that "in the current circumstances that the Iraqi people are going through, the citizen who was forced into the home quarantine for his safety from the pandemic of the new Corona epidemic has become in need of an increase in the capacities of the Internet and mobile charging cards, in addition to providing food and health supplies."
He pointed out that "the ministry reduced capacity wages by 25% in the last period."
In another context, he pointed out, "the formation of a joint committee with the Media and Communications Authority, the security services, intelligence and national security and the rest of the security services, to combat the process of smuggling Internet capacities, where a group of smugglers was arrested and referred to the judiciary."
He explained that "the ministry needs the electronic portals project, which should be submitted after the formation of the new government for investment, to prevent smuggling of Internet capacities."
Al-Rubaie stressed that "his ministry has a lot of treatments to improve the speed of the Internet," noting that "a number of studies will be discussed with the private sector to improve the efficiency of the Internet."
The Ministry of Communications announced earlier, an increase in local and international Internet capacities as much as possible, with a price reduction of 25% for local capacities and 50% for international capacities for a period of one month, starting from 3/14/2020 to 4/14/2020, which can be extended according to the current conditions of the country.
